Created on July 18th 2021 in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic...
World Water Access Fund began with a mission to help provide key Water and Sanitation resources to communities in need around the globe.
Our primary method of impact is by providing Zero-Interest Loans through Kiva.org to help finance clean water infrastructure for private individuals and capital expenditures for local businesses providing critical water services in affected communities.
As of April 2025:

In deciding which loans to fund, we draw inspiration from Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, which theorizes that the path to self-actualization as a human being requires satisfying layers of psychological and physiological needs - with basic needs like water, food, shelter, and good health being the foundation of all human needs.
Based on that philosophy, we think that the way to have the greatest benefit to humanity is by helping to develop basic Water and Sanitation infrastructure and services in local communities, sometimes at the individual household level.
The ethos of World Water Access Fund is to maximize impact, which is why we want you to join our team on Kiva so we can get more people involved in the movement, and spread through word-of-mouth to anyone who wants to support the cause.
At the moment, no. But when the time is right, World Water Access Fund will file as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in order to accept tax-deductible donations and further incentivize contributions to the fund.
You can get involved in our efforts right now when you join our team on Kiva, allowing you to hand-pick the loans that you want to fund in the Water and Sanitation space.
The main reason that we choose to make loans instead of donations in the Water and Sanitation space is that it allows us to multiply our impact. With a relatively small pool of initial capital, say $1,000 it is possible to finance $10,000 of development of Water and Sanitation infrastructure in less than 10 years, and to make a direct impact with individuals who are most in need.
Many of the recipients of our funding are simply unable to make the up-front payments required to install a new toilet in their house, or to dig a well to get clean water at their house to have ownership and control over their source of clean water. Through Kiva we are able to give them access to those resources and finance the purchase over a period of months at zero interest. In some cases the instalation of new Water and Sanitation infrastructure allows recipients to directly earn or save more money.
In other words, these investments pay for themselves. The only thing needed to make these developments happen is the up-front capital. That's where we, and hopefully you, come in to help.
